The
Carneros lies in the Southern portion of both Napa and Sonoma counties.
Because of its unique set of growing conditions, this area was granted
its own appellation in 1983.
|
|
Due
to the maritime influence of San Pablo Bay, the climate in the Carneros
produces cool breezes and early morning fog that help to extend the growing
season, making this a Region 1, the coolest possible climatic conditions
for viticulture. The soil here is shallow and dense, and rainfall is a
mere twenty inches, the lowest in the area. All of these factors help
to produce fruit that is intensely flavored and provides excellent sugar
to acid balance.

Carneros
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir has received worldwide recognition. Solitude
